About Evan Seidel

Evan Seidel is an educator, percussionist, and musician from Austin, Texas. Mr. Seidel is currently an assistant band director in Levelland, Texas. He is a graduate of The University of Texas at San Antonio with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education. He has had numerous experiences within education and musical performance that continue to shape him as an educator. Evan believes that the music making experience belongs to those who are willing to try it. Music creates an opportunity for young people to express themselves and develop life skills that are carried outside the classroom and applied to real world situations. Mr. Seidel recognizes the responsibility of a music educator is to motivate, uplift and empower all students at all times, and acknowledges the role of an educator is to leave a positive impact on every student. Being professional and building positive relationships with students creates a healthy environment which allows all parties to be the best verions of themselves.

During his time at UTSA, he studied music pedagogy and conducting under Dr. Ron Ellis and Dr. John Zarco, and studied percussion under Dr. Sherry Rubins, Dr. Michael Mixtacki, Dr. Paul Millette and Dr. Pete Breithaupt. He was a member of the Symphonic Band, University Band, and percussion ensemble. Mr. Seidel has a passion for the marching arts, and experience in both performing and teaching. He was a member of UTSA’s indoor drumline in 2019 and 2020, placing 7th in WGI Open Class Finals in 2019. Evan is an alumni of the Colts Drum and Bugle Corps from Dubuque, Iowa, as a member of the front ensemble for the summer 2021 season. Evan served as a visual marching technician and assistant front ensemble technician for Leander High School in fall 2021. Mr. Seidel was a 4 year member of UTSA’s Spirit of San Antonio Marching Band and served as an assistant drum major during the fall of 2020.

Evan holds professional affiliations and memberships with the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) and the Percussive Arts Society.
